November trial for nine charged over Rusila rioting
KUALA TERENGGANU, Tue.:
The Sessions Court has fixed Nov 2 to 5 to try nine people charged with participating in a riot at Taman Medan Jaya in Rusila, Marang, on polling day.
Judge Mohammad Khalid Ab Karim set the date when the case was re-mentioned before him here today.
The nine are Ibrahim Ali, 64, Ahmad Saharmi Mohd Nor, 30, Ismail Mohamad, 60, Luqman Abdul Rahim, 23, Anuar Mustaqim Abdul Malik, 22, Muhamad Sobri Mustapa, 22, Faizul Azrin Che Mohamad, 29, Muhamad Imaluddin Alis, 22, and Md Hinuddin Din, 30.
They were alleged to have stopped a bus bearing registration number BJU 2555 and staged the riot at the Taman Medan Jaya access junction in Rusila at 10.30am on March 8.
If convicted, they can be jailed up to two years or fined or both.
Ibrahim, Faizul and Hinuddin were also charged with vandalising the bus under Section 440 of the Penal Code which carries up to five years’ jail or a fine or both.
