WONG WEI THENG 14775 KUMP39 WEEK-9
KUANTAN: Teruntum assemblyman Chang Hong Seong said the opening of a new haemodialysis centre in Sri Kuantan here will help more patients suffering from kidney failure.
Chang said the number of patients was much higher than the number of machines available.
“With the centre, more patients can seek treatment instead of awaiting their turns at government hospitals.
“I was told the patients need to bear only half of the cost as the centre is subsidised by the Government,” he said after visiting the centre on Friday.
The centre, to be known as Tun Abdul Razak haemodialysis centre, officially opened its doors recently.
Eight patients have registered, with Azmi Awang, 45, of Sungai Isap, being the first.
The centre’s manager Khalik Untong said it was the 21st set up under an initiative of the National Kidney Foundation.
He said that two other centres, one in Kota Kinabalu and the other in Kepong, would be opened later.
“Each patient is required to pay only RM50 as the foundation will chip in RM10 and the Health Ministry another RM50.
Khalik said the centre had 12 dialysis machines and six staff members.
MY OPINON ,
I think this is a good new to kidney patients. Because more patients can seek treatment instead of awaiting their turns at government hospitals. Beside that, patients only need to pay half of the cost as the centre and other payment is subsidised by the Government. This can also less the burden of poor patients because poor patients will feel the payment treatment kidney failure very higherand is a big burden.
