Pride in Kedah’s economic success
ALOR STAR: The people of Kedah continue to prosper under the reign of Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah, who celebrated his 50th year on the throne recently.
His happiness at attending the event, one of numerous activities held in conjunction with his golden jubilee celebrations, was clearly evident.
With the Sultanah in tow, Sultan Abdul Halim visited each and every one of the 100 booths that were set up.
Showing a keen interest in his subjects’ entrepreneurship, the Sultan also took time to chat with them.
The exhibitors included budding entrepreneurs in traditional foods, herbal products and fruits. There were also a number of high-end product and services player such as KBioCORP, which specialises in biotechnology.
Also participating were various government-linked companies such as Kulim High-Tech Park, Muda Agricultural Development Authority and KedahAgro.
Nor Sabrina Mohd Noor, managing director of Kedah BioResources Corporation Sdn Bhd, described the exposition as an opportunity for the participants to share their diversified economic activities with the Sultan.
She said Sultan Abdul Halim was very supportive in his advice to her when he visited her booth.
“The exposition is an opportunity for us to expand our business by building networks with other companies.
“Also, this exposition gives us the opportunity to show off our products and services to our beloved Sultan. We want him to be proud of his subjects who have achieved much progress under his reign.”
Wong Sau Wei, who manned the Telekom Malaysia booth, described the exposition as “our way of saying congratulations to Sultan Abdul Halim on the 50th year of his rule.
“The Sultan has always encouraged the people to improve their livelihoods and remain united.
“Many of the exhibitors are successful entrepreneurs and their achievements could be attributed to the Sultan’s call and reminder for them to strive harder for themselves, their families and the state on many occasions in the past.”
